Isn’t ByteDance/TikTok required to provide information to the Chinese government, if asked?

Project Texas is designed to make this question moot. Once TikTok USDS is fully operational, ByteDance and TikTok will not have access to protected U.S. user data (with limited exceptions), and our governance structure is designed to prevent USDS employees from being pressured to grant access by TikTok or ByteDance leaders. We have not received any requests for U.S. user data from the Chinese government; have not shared any U.S. user data with the Chinese government in response to such a request; and would not do so if we were to receive a request
